SkyHoppers specializes in providing 'Adventure' flight training in our Cessna 180 'Skywagon', tailwheel bush plane while making scenic aerial excursions throughout this diverse island. The Dominican Republic is conveniently located to experience the adventures of tropical bush flying, being only a short 2 hour flight southeast of Miami in the center of the Caribbean. SkyHoppers welcomes pilots of all kinds, from beginning 'Student-pilots' to advanced Certificated Pilots to join us for any of our three Flight Training Adventures. SkyHoppers flight training excursions are ideal for busy professionals wishing to expand their pilot credentials with a high-performance-tailwheel endorsement, or renew their pilot proficiency in a timely manner - all while on vacation in luxury accommodations with their family or friends. Our excursions also appeal to those seeking an 'extreme' Caribbean vacation adventure. We also welcome people with no prior flying experience to become a Student-Pilot with us, and explore the world of flight at the controls of the quintessential American bush plane. Whether you are new to the skies, interested in tailwheel or high-performance transition training, need a Biennial Flight Review, or simply interested in logging time in our rugged Cessna 180 Skywagon, SkyHoppers invites you to come fly in a Caribbean setting with the safety of our highly experienced bilingual Chief Pilot. You'll be sure to love every minute of flying with open windows while rushing over the tropical landscape of the Dominican Republic in our Skywagon! SkyHoppers flight training excursions are generally all-day events launching between 9 and 11am depending on the time of year, and are scheduled to allow for plenty of beach-combing with your family and friends on alternate days. The SkyHoppers Chief Pilot will assist you in planning outings and arrange for transportation at the destination for each aerial excursion depending on your interests; SkyHoppers does not cover such transportation costs. The Chief Pilot may also accompany you on the ground during the excursions for translation purposes and to offer a guided tour, as desired. Finally, SkyHoppers will temporarily provide you with a Dominican cell phone while on the ground during the excursions, for rendezvous and safety purposes, at no extra cost.
