First Time to Surf and what fun it is when you have lessons.

Off we went, after learning about surfing on dry land in a lovely stretch of beach called Encuentro Beach in Cabarete, the Dominican Republic.  We had been well instructed by Marcus, who has lived in this seaside city for a long time.  He was here when there were no resorts-just virgin beaches!  Of course, he hasn’t aged a day!  Life here is relaxing and it shows on one’s face.

With Marcus’ blessing and teachings at Cabarete 321 Takeoff Surf School we were ready to go out there with the Cabarete waves and try surfing. Our instructors kept a close eye on us.  They helped us surge our boards forward to help us catch the waves!.

Trying to stand and keep our balance was a lot of fun-we swallowed some ocean water but it was great.  We were timid at first but slowly we started to get the hang of it.  We all were able to stand up on the board and surf within forty five minutes or so in the water.  Soon we needed a break from the relenting ocean.  We caught our breaths, drank some bottled water and couldn’t wait to go back out and try it again.  Which we did!  We couldn’t wait to go back out and test our small but budding knowledge of this sport called surfing.

Cabarete is known for its winds, waves  and nightlife.  We actually found a day that was relaxing and tranquil when we visited.  Cabarete Beach is a beautiful white sand beach located on the north coast of the Dominican Republic and offers the perfect location for Surfing, Wind Surfing, Kiteboarding and many other water activiteis.  We want to thank 321 Takeoff for inviting us over for surf lessons to be published in a later video.

Life outside Cabarete, Dominican Republic.  Video taken of daily living only a few Km on the South East  outskirts of Cabarete.  Even here you will it friendly and full of Adventures enjoying moments with the Dominican locals in a small colmado / salon eating arranque.  Arranque is salt dried fish considered to be a powerful Dominican aphrodisiac.  Yes it works! The Cabarete Kiteboarding World Cup 2009 is to take place 17-25 June 2009. Endorsed by the Professional Kiteriding Association (PKRA). Cabarete, Puerto Plata.

Master of the Ocean -  Surfing, Windsurfing, and Kitesurfing competition invites the world’s best Surfers, Kitesurfers, and Windsurfers to its seventh edition from Feb. 24^th till March 1^st 2009 Cabarete,  Dominincan Republic.

This event is one of the most incredible competitions of its type.  From February 24^th till March 1^st 2009, Cabarete turns over the town to this triathlon on the waves.

This competition was assembled to find and crown the world’s best overall water sport athlete. The competitors  compete in the events of Surfing, Windsurfing, and Kitesurfing Cabarete.

“Master of the Ocean” returns in its sixth edition Without a doubt, “ Master of the Ocean” constitutes a unique event.  It deals with a true “triathlon on the  waves,” where participants are totally committed to pulling off tricks and acrobatic jumps (“airs”) on their boards- while the whole audience, in addition to delighting in the highest level of sport, enjoys Cabarete, its great gourmet fair, its exciting night life, and all the other event activities like the Music festival Independence.
