Punta Rucia is a quite, relaxing getaway for those that enjoy beautiful remote places.
One of the main tourist attractions in Punta Rucia is Paradise Island “Cayo Paraiso” which is a small white sand bar that has 5 huts set up from local tour companies that provide souvenirs, snorkeling gear, snacks and drinks.
Casa Libre provides 3 clean rooms for rent starting around 1,000 DOP ($35.00 US) per night. The rooms are clean and quaint and dinner we had there was very good as well as the owners company. Casa Libre has its on private path down to the beach where you will find a Kayak for your water fun pleasure.
Even though the bath/shower is separate from the rooms with no hot water, it was very clean and organized. Electricity is a big problem in Punta Rucia but not an issue at Casa Libre, they have full time power from their backup inverter. The roads to Punta Rucia are not paved,and phone service is barely operational but the travel there is worth it for a real getaway!

We have (my husband Fred and myself 68 and 65 years of age) had a very nice stay at this hotel for 2 nights: 27-2-/28-2-2010 The people who owns this hotel Gerty und Marco (German and French) are very friendly and like to help you with a lot of things…it is simple, but very nice place to sleep (romanticly) only the matrasses on the beds are for us (we are not so young anymore) a little bit hard to sleep on, but some people do like this way of sleeping….the toilet is outside as well as the douche, but for us not a big problem. It is possible to visit a’n island Paraiso and see cows in the national park, also you can nicely walk along the beach..and find a lot of shelves…the food is also nice on the beach and is very cheap…
